She is a largely self-taught artist who began painting at an early age. She studied biological sciences and enjoyed her career shaped by her passion for education. Her love for art eventually led her to become a fulltime painter after taking early retirement.
Nature is central to her artistic expression. Walking through the Scottish hills evokes the same sense of wonder, freedom, and spiritual connection she experienced as a child while wandering in the forests of India. This deep emotional bond with the natural world, that brings peace, comfort and joy forms the heart of her work. To her, nature is a source of healing, meditation, and reflection. Through her art, she explores themes such as the environment, spirituality, and also topical concepts such as borders and bridges. She mainly works in oil paints on cotton and linen canvas and sometimes uses earth materials like marble dust and dry pigment to cretae layers and texture to express the emotional and atmospheric qualities. Her compositions draw on memories, photographs, and observation, merging reality and imagination to highlight the unseen connections we have with nature. She has exhibited extensively in Edinburgh and across Scotland and sold internationally.
